Richard and Harry Grace and Dave Needham make up the Epsom, UK folk/rock project Tumbler. Their new album You Said is now available.
A record full of simple but awesome songs flexing serious musical muscle and a lyrical punch that will send you straight to the repeat button; You Said appeals to a wide range of music listeners.
There’s something very organic and human about Tumbler‘s vibe. I dig it. Just wait until you hit the bridge around 1:41 in “Bueller” below. These guys rock!
Richard taught himself guitar as a teenager taking a liking to classic songs written by individuals such as Leonard Cohen, Dylan and Paul Simon. Richard gave up everything to pursue a life in music.
As most musicians come to realize, dreams are hard to live on. After his first wife attempted suicide, Richard settled down, found a reliable source of income, and began living a “proper” life. Three kids later, Richard found himself with two budding guitarists.
After a second marriage and 3 more kids, Richard found himself with two more aspiring musicians.
Harry, Richard’s fifth son, is now 18 and committed to pursuing the path of music. After meeting Dave Needham, Tumbler was born.
You Said is packed with 12 masterfully crafted songs that could each stand on their own as solid singles. Enchanting melodies, beautiful guitar tones, and a pop appeal weave a cohesive album worthy of playing over and over again.
Consider me a fan. I highly recommend You Said for your indie music collection.
