“We don’t need a reason to take it on the open road.” Ain’t that the darn truth! Makes me want to get away from this desk, crank up that crazy guitar solo and jam right on through the red lights out past the edge of town…
London based indie/pop band The RIVE Project have announced the release of their new single ‘Open Road’ for August 19th – premiered by Crack In The Road along with details of their debut EP. The combined project of New Zealand singer/songwriter Christy Whelan and Israeli ambient guitarist Arli Liberman, along with their live band have consolidated their work into the ‘Wanna Change’ EP which will be available late September. ‘Open Road’ is the aptly named opening track and succinctly combines the band’s esteemed influences including Peter Gabriel and Radiohead with guitar-pop sensibilities creating an accessibly anthemic sound in a similar manner to Frightened Rabbit. The demo version impressed the editor of It’s All Indie who described the track as a combination of “anthemic choruses, howling and delicate guitar tones, industrial sounds and a sense of 90’s pop”.
