Intergalactic archeologists Moviestar prepare to astound and amaze with their new collection of sci-fi infused punk-rock tracks. Their debut album Stupid People / Happy Days is out on February 9th, 2018 via Oh Yeah!.
Moviestar are like no other band on earth. Having formed in the future on planet Fenris, Infinity Vik, The Octopus Goddess and The Anaconda create their own unique version of art punk pop, filled with sonic twists and eccentric electronica throughout. The dynamic trio were chosen to go on a dangerous mission through space and time to retrieve “the stone” and save the world. Moviestar were then sent to Norway, the safest nation in the world, in the dreaded year of 2016.
The first single to be taken from the album, Stupid People, is a fuzz-filled, electro-punk anthem about people on earth. Infinity Vik explains “When we came through the wormhole, we were shocked to see how badly people treated the earth and each other. We realized that people just don’t care!”. The track is instantly catchy from the offset, filled with a plethora of futuristic sounds and a shit ton of reverb.
In this interview spotlight, we chat with Moviestar about influences, challenges, the latest project and much more.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?
It was space, the final frontier, that lead us to music. In our effort to explore this strange new world, we found punk, pop and art to be the music genres originated from Rock N Roll that made the biggest impact on us. Second to landing our spacecraft on earth which also had an electronic taste to it.
How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?
We came through the wormhole to your time in the dreaded year of 2016 in the safest nation of your world, Norway. Sins then we have played in Norway, UK, France, US. That is the extent of the duration of our Rock N Roll group until now. It may seem short a short time to make learn a craft. But remember we come from the distant future, and are more like super-beings with enormous capacity and knowledge. In the future we come from we are all master archeologists and have studied the ancient art or Rock N Roll and Moving Pictures through the old scriptures and holy documents. Since we come from such a distant future have we been doing this for only 1 year or for 3506 years? We ask you. That is a question of perspective.
Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?
We learned our incidental instruments once we got a hold of them. They were, and still are instruments of raw power and hope. Hope and love keeps us going. We prefere real instruments. Computers do not agree with our biology. When you ask Who: Well we had a conversation with Lou Reed in District 4.300. Autiruim, Space time R.Y.23.5.lok-99.7 He had big influence on us on our way to earth. When we finally heard his music, we understand why. Since then we have also come to love others of his musical-rase, like James Murphy, Sonny Boy, Michael Jackson, Television, Big Mama Thornton, Lord Invader, David Bowie, The Stranglers, and many others. The lyrics we write are about our observations of the people on earth and our archaeological-emotional findings, hence, the single Stupid People.
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?
We set out on a mission to find “the stone” and had been assigned the task of being in a Rock n Roll Group by our President Supremius. In the process we found out that being in a rock band helped us travel this new world in search of it while not spending a lot of money, as people usually pay us to play for them. We are still looking for the Stone. If you find it please contact us on moviestartheband.com
What was the last song you listened to?
We listened to LCD Soundsystem: Daft Punk is playing at My House. And we thought: Wow! How great of Daft Punk. Now we wanna play at LCD Soundsystem’s house. Do you know their address?
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
We prefer every medium possible. The only criteria we have is that our message reaches the listener. Think about it: In your early days of rock music, say Radio Luxembourg, people did not care about the fidelity of music, just the raw power of it. If it’s good, it’s good on all platforms and on all mediums.
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
We prefer not to be asked these silly questions. Why? Because of the aforementioned. Plus the ultimate form of transmission is telepathy which is not yet available in Europe. We think Japan has got some. And India, we think, maybe. You’ll have to check for yourselves. Our newest addition to the platforms is that our vinyl is also a game. Say no more.
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?
We always try to reach our audience by the cunning use of body language and extreme sexual energy, just like Elvis Presley did, and still do actually. Something you would know if you were in the loop. We actually are attracted to our audience, not the other way around, which is very challenging for them, but they are getting there. Bless them!
Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you live?
Yeah, we play Holy Rock N Roll ceremonies. What you in your time call gigs. Soon we will release a Rock N Roll document which in your time seem to be called an Album or a Record. Record makes more sense to us, as we have many records of your Records, recorded in our Holy libraries of the old scriptures at the main Archeology Academy for Telepathy, Magic and Space Travel. On the 29th of september we embark upon the first step towards this great milestone by releasing the first chapter of our holy document, Stupid People.
Come to watch us play in the UK, we will play, Brighton, Hastings, Maidstone, London, and more. Check our website.
