Swedish electro-pop artist Bellhouse returns with shimmering new single Like You Loved Us, out now.
Talking about the single, Bellhouse – aka Emma-Lee Andersson – elaborates, “its a song about those pure, desperate emotions, when two people are trying to convince themselves that they are over but their hearts just wants to go back to the way they were.” Like You Loved Us is instantly majestic, filled with celestial electronics, sweeping production and Bellhouse’s powerful lead vocal effortlessly taking centre stage. Fans of the likes ofAllie X and Zella Day will feel at home here.
In this interview spotlight, I chat with Bellhouse about the new single, challenges, motivations and more.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?
I love all the different directions I can go in the pop-genre but still keep my own style. I feel very creatively free when I write this type of music and can push myself to develop.
What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?
I’ve been writing songs and playing different instruments ever since I can remember, and it’s always been obvious to me that this was what I was gonna put my heart and soul into, so wanting people to hear what I’ve been working for is a natural part of it.
Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?
Really great music influences me, which to me is right now Alec Benjamin and GRANT, to name a couple. When a lot is going on in my life the inspiration is much bigger, so I try to get out and do new things to keep it flowing. It’s really lovely how an ugly heartbreak can make a beautiful song come to life.
Oh yes.. My taste in music has gone from pop to metal to punk to dancehall and back to pop again plus everywhere in between, and a lot of it still sticks with me.
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?
I wanted to make a great pop-song for a big crowd about a situation everyone will recognize.
What was the last song you listened to?
Paris – Sabrina Carpenter. Amazing song.
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
There is something special about vinyls and I collected them for a while, but I grew up with CDs, and remember the feeling of buying a new CD you’ve been wanting for a long time and keeping it on repeat. Thought I was pretty cool when I got an mp3 though. They all bring back memories from different parts of my life so it’s really hard to pick one but… CD!
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
I guess I would have to go with Spotify, it’s just so simple.
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?
For me it has been difficult to keep up with all the social media which is the first thing new fans will look for. It hasn’t been feeling natural for me to share that much about myself, that often. I think that has been based mostly on not understanding why people would care about what I do everyday. I’m working on it and have started to just have fun with it, because it’s amazing that people are interested and I really wanna have that connection and use this tool to interact with people who like what I do.
Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more music?
That would be through facebook and mainly instagram @enterthebellhouse. That’s where I put updates on new releases, shows and pictures from behind the scenes of my work and other stuff I’m up to. I love to get feedback there from people who take part in what I do!
Anything else you’d like to add before signing off?
I hope you will like the new song and that we’ll talk soon again!
