Almost three years after giving up his house and possessions to travel the world indefinitely collaborating with producers, Irangeles (Iran/Los Angeles) rapper Malkovich shares his journey with his new Youtube series #1BAG. Shot in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the first episode is titled “How I Traveled 7,000 Miles Through A Warzone To Get Dumped”. He also presents his new single “American Requiem”, the second leak from Pre-Boarding, his forthcoming mixtape mixed by DJ Spinna where he raps over world music classics from Augustus Pablo, Mulatu Astatqe and more. “American Requiem” is the second leak from Pre-Boarding after “Love” (free on Soundcloud) where he raps over Alice Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”. Malkovich’s 2013 album Great Expectations (free on Bandcamp) received support from DJ Premier, The Source and the Wake Up Show. His 2011 mixtape Ayatollah Presley (free on Bandcamp) – mixed by deejay/producer House Shoes – featured Dibia$e and Prince Po of Organized Konfusion, and his verse from “NOLA Redux” kicked off Gilles Peterson’s 2009 Best Of HipHop Mix. #1BAG is basically the story of all the global drifters like me who I run into in bars, airports, bus stations,” says Malkovich. “We have a couple drinks, a couple laughs, shake hands and I never see them again. We think something’s huge is out there waiting for us, and we’re done waiting.” Upcoming episodes of #1BAG include Malaysia, Namibia, Cambodia and Thailand.
