Every once in a while I hear something and wonder where I’ve been and what I’ve been missing out on… That happened again today with Ed Roman and his new single “Lay One Down“.
Ed’s track record speaks for itself so let me hit the highlights.
Hailing from Shelburne, Ontario, Canada, Ed Roman is an award winning multi-instrumentalist, performer, and songwriter. In 2014 he was nominated for the Artists Music Guild Award and Artists In Music Award. In 2014 he won the International Music and Entertainment Association Award.
This year Ed is a two-time nominee for the IMEA Award as well as the Josie Show Awards. He won the Akademia Award and is a two-time winner of the Indie Music Channel Award.
This doesn’t include his performance stops at Red Gorilla Music Fest, The Millennium Music Conference, SS Cape May, and regional tours through NYC and Philadelphia.
Ed is also a Heart Songs for Veterans artist donating his time and money to help veterans. Bret and myself are also big supporters of Veterans so big ups to Mr. Roman for his efforts!
With all of that said, Ed’s new single “Lay Own Down” is like butter. It’s smooth, upbeat, light and comes packed with plenty of pop appeal.
Ed’s ability to blur the lines between genres sets him on par with classic pop acts like Paul Simon, James Taylor, Bob Marley and other great song crafters from a golden era of acoustic folk hits.
“Lay One Down” is driven by Ed’s powerful, soulful vocals. Backed by a sweet sounding acoustic guitar, Ed weaves pristine finger-picked melodies and driving acoustic rhythms like nobody’s business.
Sprinkled with aptly placed background harmonies and a tropical percussion section, Ed dances through stimulating and enchanting frequencies with ease.
With music like this it’s no wonder Ed has been able to build an international tribe of “Ed Heads”.
To add even more pack to the Ed Roman punch, Ed recently spent some time in Jamaica delivering humanitarian aid to the island as well as shooting a video for his single “Jamaica“.
It’s also a potent and tasty jam.
Roman’s new album “Letters From High Latitudes” is a homage to his Ontario home and is now available.
