We recently had the opportunity to interview Brian Barnhouse. We discussed touring in a cover band, changes in the industry from the ’80s until now, and the new album, clarified.
Barnhouse’s new album is exactly the fix you need if you’ve been longing for power pop, arena rock, and everything we loved about rock star hair-dos in the 1980s… Ok, Brian’s hair is much more traditional now but you should check out the video/photos from his earlier days.
clarified is a fresh and modern interpretation of the epic power rock many of us grew up consuming. Blazing solos, screaming guitars {you can imagine screaming women too}, fiery lead vocals, and catchy melodies that occasionally kick into overdrive with powerful vocal harmonies.
Having performed live over 1,200 nights, writing and releasing songs with various bands, and receiving an honorable mention in the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest, Brian’s musicianship and songwriting abilities do not disappoint.
Including 10 tracks of uplifting, soul moving rock and roll, clarified delivers everything you need for a great listening experience. Falling on the spectrum between Rick Springfield and Thin Lizzy, Brian brought on Bobby Barth (Axe, Blackfoot) to produce the album.
Barth used to manage one of Barnhouse’s bands back in the ’90s. They had originally planned on collaborating back then but it never worked out… A couple of decades later, the duo now see their vision clarified.
Backed by a stellar line-up of musicians, clarified includes contributions from Bob Harris on keys and background vox, Jimmy Hunter banging on the drums, Troy Johnson on bass, and Bobby Barth on guitar and background vox.
My choice for top tracks include: “Nothing Is Real”, “Morning Sun”, and “Rule The Sky”. However, note that each song is solid enough to stand on its own.
clarified was released on July 1st so now’s the perfect time to grab your copy. Then connect with Brian on YouTube or FB.
