Blunt Force Charm of Leduc, Alberta Canada are here with their debut The Life.
As I was brewing my morning coffee, I found myself (without thought) jamming out my air guitar to their track One. After pulling up their one sheet to find out more about what was stuck in my head, I realize there’s some Canadian magic being cast in front of my eyes.
With that said, all 9 tracks rock. No, let me emphasize…RAWK!
When I first listened, I just took it for granted there was more than Jon O’Dwyer on Guitar and Vocals and Aaron Best on Drums and Vocals. For two guys and two instruments, they create quite the wall of sound.
Running parallel to bands with names like The Black Keys, Big Wreck, Thornley, and The White Stripes, Blunt Force Charm delivers raw rock and roll soul with hints of blues and country.
Blues grooves such as the one backing track 8, Black Cat, remind me of days spent jamming out to ZZ Top cassettes. [I’m still working on the beard thing though.]
As with many paths in life, the road we take is not always clear. Often, the direction less taken becomes the most fulfilling. Such is the story of Blunt Force Charm.
Each song stands on its own with rockin’ grooves, catchy riffs, and hooks that will stay in your head for days. Blackest Heart, Nobody Knows, Good Luck To You and all the other tracks bring something special to the album creating a piece of music worth adding to your collection.
